Reminder: prescribers must register with TPP Alberta to prescribe Type 1 medications

Registration requirements for prescribers

TPP Alberta reminds prescribers that in order to prescribe medications on the TPP-monitored Type 1 list, prescribers must be registered with TPP Alberta

Registration with TPP Alberta is required regardless of the prescriber’s practice location. Register with TPP Alberta here. If you are already registered with TPP Alberta, you are not required to re-register.

Note: If your practice location has received an exemption from using physical TPP pads to prescribe TPP-monitored Type 1 medications, you are still required to be registered with TPP Alberta to prescribe Type 1 medications.

TPP prescription pad responsibility and safety

Once registered, prescribers will receive a personalized TPP prescription pad containing tracking numbers assigned specifically to them. If you do not anticipate using the TPP pad, please do not destroy it. Please refer to the TPP Alberta Program Guide for instructions on how and when to return unused pads.

TPP-registered prescribers are responsible for keeping their TPP prescription pad safe and secure. Prescribers should store the pad appropriately and use it only in accordance with TPP Alberta’s requirements.

For more information, please refer to the TPP Alberta Program Guide
